Ingredient Notes

recipe ingredients in small bowls and labeled
  • matcha green tea powder: I like the packets of Pique Life Sun Goddess Matcha. I recommend ceremonial-grade matcha for the highest quality.
  • hot water: (not boiling)
  • maple syrup
  • unsweetened almond milk: Any plant-based milk or dairy milk will work- pick your favorite!

Strawberry Cold Foam

  • fresh strawberries: Frozen strawberries will also work!
  • original Nutpods creamer: If you're not dairy-free you can use heavy cream or half and half here.
  • maple syrup

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Add the matcha to a small bowl and pour hot water over.

Step 2

Add maple syrup. Use a milk frother (or another electric frother) or bamboo whisk to mix. Set aside.

Step 3

Add the strawberries, Nutpods, and maple syrup to a blender. Blend until it resembles strawberry milk. A food processor should work in a pinch.

Step 4

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes ¾ of the way.

Expert Tips

  • To make this with regular dairy, simply swap the almond milk for regular whole milk or use half and half instead of Nutpods!
  • If you don't want to use almond milk you can choose any non-dairy option like coconut milk or cashew milk. Use soy milk or oat milk for a nut-free option.
  • You can use a handheld frother or a matcha whisk set for this recipe. You'll also need a high-powdered blender for the cold foam.
  • Choosing the right matcha is important! There are 2 different grades of matcha: ceremonial matcha and culinary grade. I recommend using ceremonial grade matcha powder as it is the highest quality, has better flavor, and is less bitter.

Serving & Storage Tips

This strawberry matcha tea is best served immediately after making it. I don't recommend storing it, as it will not be as good as when served fresh.

Want hot matcha? Simply heat up the milk or steam it, pour the matcha on top, and then add the strawberry creamer!
