For this recipe, I use Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Pork Sausages which are certified gluten free, sugar free, Whole30 compliant, and delicious! You can find them in the freezer section. For this recipe, you can either add them into the slow cooker straight from frozen, or you can brown them first (according to package directions) for additional flavor.
What Ingredients do I Need to Make This Slow Cooker Sausage, Sauerkraut, and Apples?
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this dish:
- 1 package of Jones Dairy Farm All Natural Pork Sausages (10-12 links)
- 3 carrots
- 4-6 medium-sized red potatoes
- 1 onion
- 3 cups of sauerkraut (look for a brand where the only ingredients are cabbage and salt)
- 1 apple
- apple cider (look for a brand where ingredients are only apples)
- minced garlic
- sea salt
- dijon mustard
- coconut aminos
- chicken broth
- caraway seeds
- Bay leaf
That’s all you need!
How You Make This Slow Cooker Sausage, Sauerkraut, and Apples:
For a crispier sausage you can thaw and brown them according to the package directions before adding them to the slow cooker, or just add them directly from frozen (this is what I did).
Add the sliced onion, sauerkraut, sliced apple, potatoes, carrots, and sausages into the slow cooker. Mix up the sausage ingredients. Pour it over everything in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 8-10 hours. It’s a good idea to mix everything halfway through cooking time, if possible. Serve and enjoy!
It’s that easy!
