I am all about simple, fresh, no-cook meals in the summer! These Whole30 Melon Basil Prosciutto Skewers are a delicious appetizer that comes together quickly with minimal ingredients.

What Ingredients do I need to make these Whole30 Melon Basil Prosciutto Skewers?

These skewers use just 4 ingredients:

  • Melon (honeydew, cantaloupe, and watermelon or any combination of the 3 types)
  • Prosciutto
  • Fresh basil
  • Balsamic vinegar

The balsamic vinegar is optional, but it gives these skewers incredible flavor.

What type of prosciutto should I use?

I used Citterio Prosciutto Fresco in this recipe because it tastes delicious, it’s all-natural, and only has two ingredients: pork and sea salt. Citterio’s entire Fresco line is thinly pre-sliced and recipe-ready, and is available in 14 flavor varieties. The delicate slices are just as fresh out of the package as when they were first sliced, offering both convenience and quality. Citterio offers two kinds of Prosciutto Fresco – Prosciutto di Parma, made from specialty bred and fed pigs in the Parma Province of North-Central Italy, and their domestic Prosciutto Fresco, made from pigs in North America. The domestic Prosciutto is made in the same way as Prosciutto di Parma, but it does not carry the D.O.P. label since it uses meat from outside the Parma Province. Both types of Prosciutto are made with special attention to its ingredients and commitment to quality. To find Citterio products at a retailer near you, you can check out their store locator here.

The Prosciutto Fresco works well for this recipe because it is so thin and is easy to fold up and fit onto the skewers. It is also Whole30 friendly!

What are the steps for making these skewers?

Step 1: Use a melon ball scooper to create 1-inch melon balls.

Step 2: Cut each piece of prosciutto in half. Fold each half up so you can add it to the skewer.

Step 3: Grab your skewers and add a piece of basil, watermelon, the prosciutto, cantaloupe, honeydew, then another piece of basil. Feel free to add them in whatever order you prefer.

Step 4: Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and enjoy!

These Whole30 Melon Prosciutto Basil Skewers would be perfect for serving poolside, at your next BBQ, or for date night. The sweet and savory flavors are out of this world delicious! If you only have one or two types of melon, that is ok. Any type will work. Using all 3 just creates a really pretty presentation!
