Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground turkey
  • 2 cups packed fresh spinach finely chopped
  • 6 oz crumbled feta
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ cup crushed up Simple Mills Sea Salt crackers can also sub crushed up Siete Foods tortilla chips!

Instructions

  • Combine all of the turkey burger ingredients in a large bowl and mix gently using your hands. You want everything to be combined, but be sure not to overwork the meat or it will be tough!
  • Form the meat mixture into 8 even patties, about 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Place the patties on a platter and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Use your thumb to make an imprint in the middle of each patty. This ensures they stay flat when grilling and don't turn into a puffy ball!

Air Fryer Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375. Spray the basket with cooking oil.
  • Cook the patties for 11-12 minutes (in batches if necessary so they aren't overlapping), flipping halfway through.
  • Internal temp should be 165 and then you know they are done!

Grilling Instructions

  • Oil your grill grates before turning it on - use tongs and a paper towel dipped in olive oil or avocado oil and spread it on the grates. This ensures the burgers won't stick!
  • Heat your grill to medium heat.
  • Cook the turkey burgers for 5-6 minutes on each side. Use a grill spatula to flip.
  • Serve with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and tzatziki sauce, if desired. Enjoy!

Mary's Tips & Tricks

  • Dairy-Free: Omit the feta for dairy-free - these will still be delicious!
  • Storage: Store leftover cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on a skillet over the stove and serve with gluten-free hamburger buns and toppings!
  • Burger Buns: This air fryer turkey burgers recipe is delicious between a gluten-free hamburger bun, lettuce-wrapped, or by itself!
  • Frozen Turkey Burgers: If you’re using frozen turkey burgers, thaw them first so you can add all of the additional ingredients in a bowl, and then reform them into patties. If you'd prefer them plain and want to cook from frozen, adjust the cooking time and cook for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Toppings: Serve these turkey burgers with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and tzatziki sauce, if desired. Check out my homemade tzatziki sauce recipe. It's dairy-free, easy to make, and delicious! Sandwich these patties in your favorite gluten free hamburger buns!
