How to Make a Simple Espresso Tonic (4 Ingredients!)

- 2 shots espresso or 4 oz strong cold brew coffee
- 4-6 oz tonic water + more as needed
- 1-2 tsp simple syrup see notes for how to make simple syrup at home!
- orange slices for garnish - feel free to use lime instead
Prepare your espresso as normal and set aside to cool.
Fill a glass with ice. Slowly pour the tonic water over the ice, then add the espresso.
Add simple syrup, if using. Top with fresh orange slices.
Stir and enjoy!

- Coffee tonic: If you don’t have an espresso machine, use cold brew coffee or strongly brewed coffee (cooled).
- How to make simple syrup at home: The ratio is one part granulated sugar or honey to one part water. Typically I do ½ cup of each. Combine both in a small pot on the stove and heat over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool, then pour it into a storage jar or container. You can store extras in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
- Sweetener: If you don’t prefer sweetener or added sugar, omit the simple syrup.
