Slow Cooker Sausage, Sauerkraut, and Apples (Whole30)

This Slow Cooker Sausage, Sauerkraut, and Apples recipe is so incredibly easy to make and so flavorful! Throw all of the ingredients into your slow cooker and walk away, then come back to a delicious dinner. It is Whole30 compliant, Paleo, gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 package Jones Dairy Farm Little Pork Sausages
  • 3 carrots peeled and cut into 2 inch chunks
  • 4-6 medium sized red potatoes cut into fourths
  • 1 onion sliced thin
  • 3 cups sauerkraut drained
  • 1 apple peeled, cored, and sliced thin
  • 1 bay leaf

Sauce

  • ¾ cup apple cider
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • ½ tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Add the sausage*, carrots, potatoes, onion, sauerkraut, apples, and bay leaf to your slow cooker.
  • Mix the sauce ingredients together well and pour over top of everything in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-5 hours, or low for 8-10 hours. Discard the bay leaf, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

*For crispier sausage, you can brown them in a pan according to the package directions prior to adding them to the slow cooker.
