This Gluten Free Baked Feta Pasta is my version of Tik Tok’s famous baked feta pasta! I’ve added in whole roasted cloves of garlic, tender shrimp, and gluten free pasta. Everything is baked in one dish, resulting in a creamy, decadent, cheesy tomato sauce. So easy and delicious! Baked Feta Pasta with Shrimp

After seeing so many people talk about this famous Baked Feta Pasta, I knew I had to try it! I put my own spin on it by adding in whole garlic cloves and raw shrimp. Cooking everything in the same dish makes for easy cleanup, which is always a win in my book! Shrimp cooks quickly in the oven, so I add it during the last 15 minutes of bake time.

This pasta trend was started by Finnish blogger Lienessa. This dish was inspired by her original recipe for Uunifetapasta, which can be found here! Also, the original recipe for Baked Feta Pasta with Tomatoes and the post that went viral on Tik Tok here in the US came from Grilled Cheese Social!

What You Need to Make This Gluten Free Baked Feta Pasta with Shrimp

You only need a few simple ingredients to make this dish!

  • 5-7 oz block of Feta cheese. I used authentic sheep’s milk feta from Greece which I found at Whole Foods. I typically handle sheep and goat cheese better than cow’s milk, so it’s a personal preference. Plus it’s DELICIOUS! You can also use traditional crumbled feta if it’s all you can find. Simply use your hands to press the crumbles together to form a large chunk in the center of the baking dish!
    • I would imagine this would also be delicious with goat cheese if you aren’t a feta fan!
  • 1 lb cherry tomatoes
  • 1 head of garlic, cut in half with skin on to reveal the cloves inside (see photo above)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Fresh basil
  • Fresh spinach
  • Salt, pepper
  • 1 lb raw peeled and deveined shrimp – I get my shrimp frozen at Costco or Trader Joe’s and thaw it in a colander under cold running water.
  • Gluten free pasta – I used Jovial Foods Gluten Free pasta, which is my favorite! But any type will work. You could also do spaghetti squash or veggie pasta of choice for a lower carb option.

I used a 9×13 baking dish for this recipe.

How to Make This Gluten Free Baked Feta Pasta with Shrimp

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

First, add your block of feta to your 9×13 baking dish. Place the tomatoes evenly all around the feta. Add your two halves of the head of garlic. Drizzle olive oil over the feta, tomatoes, and garlic and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Place the baking dish into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook your pasta according to the package directions.

Thaw the shrimp if previously frozen. You can leave the tails on or take them off – up to you. When the timer goes off, take the baking dish out and add the raw shrimp. Simply place them on top of the tomatoes in an even layer and drizzle with more olive oil/sprinkle with salt and pepper. Set the timer for 7 additional minutes.

Toss the shrimp with some of the olive oil and tomatoes. Turn the oven to Broil for the last 8 minutes of cook time. This helps to get the tomatoes nice and roasted! The total cook time is 30 minutes. 15 mins, add shrimp, 7 mins, then 8 mins on broil. Keep an eye on it at the end to make sure everything isn’t getting too browned.

Bring It All Together!

Remove the baking dish from the oven. Remove the shrimp and garlic halves and set them aside on a plate. Add your fresh spinach to the baking dish and mix it with the hot feta cheese, tomatoes, and olive oil. It should wilt after stirring. Add in your cooked pasta, fresh basil, and cloves of garlic (I simply pop them out of the skin and eat them whole – you can chop them up first, if preferred). Season with salt and pepper as needed. Top with the roasted shrimp and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 5-7 oz block of Feta cheese, I used traditional Sheep's milk feta found at Whole Foods. Crumbled will work as well- simply press it together to form a large chunk. You can also sub goat cheese!
  • 1 lb cherry tomatoes
  • 1 head garlic, skin on, cut in half to reveal cloves inside
  • 1 lb peeled/deveined raw shrimp, thawed if previously frozen
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, separated
  • 2 handfuls raw spinach
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 box gluten free pasta of choice, I like Jovial Foods gluten free pasta
  • salt & pepper , to taste. Some feta is naturally pretty salty, so be sure to taste test before adding!

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  • First, add your block of feta to your 9×13 baking dish. Place the tomatoes evenly all around the feta. Add your two halves of the head of garlic. Drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil over the feta, tomatoes, and garlic and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Place the baking dish into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook your pasta according to the package directions, drain, and set aside.
  • Thaw the shrimp if previously frozen. You can leave the tails on or take them off – up to you. When the timer goes off, take the baking dish out and add the raw shrimp. Simply place them on top of the tomatoes in an even layer and drizzle with the additional 1 tbsp olive oil/sprinkle with salt and pepper. Set the timer for 7 additional minutes.
  • Toss the shrimp with some of the olive oil and tomatoes. Turn the oven to Broil for the last 8 minutes of cook time. This helps to get the tomatoes nice and roasted! The total cook time is 30 minutes. 15 mins, add shrimp + 7 mins + 8 mins on broil. Keep an eye on it at the end to make sure everything isn’t getting too browned.
  • Remove the baking dish from the oven. Remove the shrimp and garlic halves and set them aside on a plate. Add your fresh spinach to the baking dish and mix it with the hot feta cheese, tomatoes, and olive oil. It should wilt after stirring. Add in your cooked pasta, fresh basil, and cloves of garlic (I simply pop them out of the skin and eat the cloves whole, but you can chop them up before adding, if preferred). Season with salt and pepper as needed. Top with the roasted shrimp and enjoy!
